Easier said than done...

I think all of us have heard the phrase that things are much easier said than done. I believe that we often allow our small thinking to get in the way of us walking into our dreams. Nevertheless, I want my life to parallel the things I preach, the things I believe.

I don’t want to tell my kids to dream big and not take risks myself!

I don't want my life to be restrained by fear! Instead, I want to be moved by the Father's love and renewed by every word that comes out of His mouth. So to be an overcomer you need to first learn to think like one. I want the Father's words to shape my world. I realize that in order to see greater miracles I must take greater steps of faith to give room for God to show His ability over me trying to show mine. This whole trip feels like a huge step of faith towards something I honestly don’t have the resources for, however, I can’t shake the feeling of assurance that this is what God is asking me to do. Staying comfortable is much easier, however, the pain of regret is so much worse! It takes risk to trust. Hope is revealed through trust.

No such thing as a "junior Holy Spirit"

Last year I've committed on teaching my kids how to hear the voice of God. We practiced how to wait for Him to speak, how to listen and the many different ways that God can speak to us. I taught them that they don’t have a jr. Holy Spirit, “the same Holy Spirit that lives inside of me, is the same Holy Spirit that lives inside of you.” I talked a lot about fearlessly dreaming big with God, and that there is nothing that they can’t accomplish through Jesus. As this new year approached us, I felt lead to talk with my children about their dreams for this coming year. I asked them to put no limits on God, and that if we believe for bigger things we will see bigger things.

My son Jadon and Levi both shared what they felt. Levi said, “I already know what mine is, I am going to watch Jesus give me pictures for people and then I will draw them for them.” He often sees in pictures. Levi is our little artist. Jadon, on the other hand, is more of a reader and loves to learn. Jadon took a little bit more time to say what he wanted I could tell it took him some courage to get out what he wanted to say. Then he began to say, “Mom I want to be a missionary like Smith Wigglesworth, I want to go on a missions trip this year to another country. This was when God began to draw this unction out of me, after that night there was a series of many moments where I felt God continuously bring it to my attention and create a stirring in my heart. I want to model for my kids what it looks like to be obedient to the voice of God even when it is hard or the natural circumstances tell you it's not a good idea right now. I’ve noticed that often when God asks you to do something He takes you beyond your comfort zone, beyond your convenience and leads you into a place where you have to truly trust Him because you know it takes God to make it happen. God provides a way where there is no way. When God gives you a dream He invites you to grow, He invites you to think different, He invites you to trust. This is perhaps some of what I’m most excited about. I’m also excited about the way this experience will mark my son's heart and relationship with God the way it will challenge him to grow. We are praying for revival in Haiti for the people there to know how loved and powerful they are but we are also praying for revival to be in us as a normal way of life.

This is a dream of God's heart and we are just saying yes to it! It is much easier to stay home and be comfortable and not have to raise money, not have to take any risks, and focus on buying my kids a bunk bed. However, God is calling us out of that comfort to do something more. I know our success is not measured in what we have but in our obedience to what He says and to where He calls us. I want to teach my children to take those risks and to walk in response to God's voice in their lives. Thank you for partnering with us! May the Lord tremendously bless you and give you the courage to live out your dreams whatever they may be.
