You will constantly surprise yourself with all that you have the capacity of doing when you put on the lenses of the Father. When you see you the way He sees you! Two scriptures that have been highlighted to me as of late are: 

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Mathew 5:5  

But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. 

Psalm 37:12 

Now we are told to clothe ourselves in meekness, but what does that look like? When I began to study what the word “meek” meant, I found that The Greek word “praus” (prah-oos) that is used here is also used to define a horse trained for battle. If a horse was not frightened by arrows, spears, or torches, they were said to be meeked. To be meeked was to be taken from a state of wild rebellion and made completely loyal to, and dependent upon one’s master. It can also be taken from an atmosphere of fearfulness and made unflinching in the presence of danger. They retained their fierce spirit, courage, and power, but have been disciplined to respond to the slightest nudge or pressure from the rider’s leg. The horse is trained to be sensitive to every move of the master. 

This instantly reminded me of an example Bill Johnson made once about the Holy Spirit resting upon us as a dove. How would I walk if I knew I had a dove sitting on my shoulder? I would have the dove in mind with every step I took. In the same way, we see that meekness is described as my every move being in response to my Master. We are in sync; we are one. When Jesus died on the cross, He modeled that kind of meekness. We, too, are called to demonstrate power under control. Let us be as meek as a war horse! What a perspective shift! This example also brings to mind Jesus as the Lion and the Lamb, and the tension between the  two. Jesus who literally had all power to do so much more here on earth, yet He said, “I came to do the will of my Father.” He did only what He saw the Father do, and and He spoke what He heard the Father speak. He has also called us to live in the same way. 

My confidence does not rest in my own abilities, but rather is fully secure in Jesus. Therefore, there is nothing that I fear nor nothing too impossible, because I know Whom my trust is surrendered to. A person who is clothed in meekness is actually living courageously. Living not in response to the facts of the natural but, in response to a superior Truth. We literally are to mimic Him in everything we do, just as Jesus modeled. Remember, being meek should never be confused with us being timid. A timid spirit is the exact opposite of a meek spirit. The quietness which accompanies meekness is the result of one’s trust in the Lord, whereas the quietness of timidity is the result of one’s lack of trust. 

As the Word promises that the meek will inherit the Earth, we can take courage that it is actually bold faith! Meekness looks like a person who knows who they are and is not afraid to walk it out. It comes from the confidence of Whom you have surrendered your will to! We don't admire meekness enough; we associate it with being overlooked unrecognized rather than the reality that God says those are the ones who reign. Be confident in the One who overshadows you, the One who holds the reins to your horse so to speak. 

Meekness does not look like just being quiet and humbly doing our Mama duties.

I am not diminishing the value of what we do at home. We ARE raising world changers who will shape history. We must live in such a way that truly equips them with everything they need. However, we must do this by living out boldly. We have to give them the opportunity to catch this truth, not just tell them about it, but rather model it. Our job is one of the greatest honors, and it does not give us the permission to hide. So again, let us be as meek as a horse ready for battle, and anticipate the move of our Master. 

With that being said, I wanted to challenge all of us including myself, to get out of our comfort zone and listen to the unique instruction that the Lord might have for you in this hour. Life’s rhythm looks different right now from our usual, as does church. I want to challenge us to ask God for creative strategies and ideas on how we could reach people in our neighborhoods, how we can help those in need, how can we be an answer, and how can we be a solution to the problems we see around. There are so many ways we can bless people today that are unique from any other season. Let's not miss this Divine opportunity to share Jesus with a world that is hungry to know Him in this vulnerable time. The Meek will inherit the Earth! 

Prayer: 

May my heart grow ever stronger to carry the capacity of the things in Your heart and let the things that break/move/ or bring joy to Your heart cause my heart to respond synchronously with Yours. May my thoughts be unclouded but rather washed in Your Truth. May my devotion be sincere and unshaken by the troubles of this world. And may my vision be so clear to move in sync with You. AMEN!
